Well its’ been a fabulous summer 2010 in Nelson, lots and lots of long sunny days and light sea breezes.
The house has had a lovely ‘buzz’ all summer with some very interesting guests from at least 30 different countries, staying here and exploring all the great attractions of the Nelson area.
Nick and Jenny managed a few nights off to spend with their Kayak exploring the amazing Abel Tasman national park.
Nelson had all its’ usual festivals – summer festival, music festival, jazz festival, opera in the park, long Italian lunch, blessing of the fleet, Italian movie festival, the vineyard concert season (with Tim Finn, Dave Dobbyn and Bic Runga) and the ever popular Busker festival.
Several great new restaurants have opened in the city – The Mint Room in Harley St, is great fine dining, Relish above the Nelson Yacht Club
has a great selection of seafood, light meals and amazing sunsets. The Boatshed cafe and bar are under new ownership and offering some fabulous seafood including a great ‘trust the chef’ option. Hopgoods and Boutereys both won national awards so we really are well served with great food in the region.
The local boutique breweries are growing all the time – the famous ‘Beerfests at Founders park’ being a big local favourite. The next one is the Marchfest with some fabulous bands – April 17th. at Founders. The Freehouse pub on Collingwood St. is the place to sample the boutique beers at any time.
Vicki has had a busy summer with lots and lots of guests taking her walking – sometimes twice in one day. She has gained more local fame with articles about the Warwick House dog walking appearing in both our local paper and the Christchurch Press.
